Cohort 2023 Onboarding Session - August 12th, 2023

SCARBOROUGH, Ontario, Canada - As part of Nobellum’s mandate to support the start-up of 100 Black-owned businesses in STEM by 2025, we launched the Nobellum Innovator Program to provide access to capital, training and coaching to Black startups in STEM. Backed by the University of Toronto Scarborough, the Innovator Program provides early-stage startups the opportunity to receive mentorship, education, and funding at no cost to them. Through the Nobellum True Blue Accelerator Fund we were able to welcome 25 businesses into the program this month, and 10 of them are getting ready to pitch at the Innovathon pitch event on August 26th, taking place at the University of Toronto Scarborough

Yvonne Osagie speaking with Dr. Georgette Zinaty - August 12th, 2023

We are dedicated to creating generational wealth throughout the African and Caribbean diaspora. We want the Black dollar to circulate through Black-owned businesses, ensuring our spending power stays in our community for longer than ever before. Throughout their time in our program, our 25 start-ups will pitch their ideas for an audience and our judges to gain exposure and receive award prizes. They will work with coaches like Mike Orr (Co-Founder, Grapevine6) and Dr. Georgette Zinaty (CEO & Founder, Women Helping Empower Women – WHEW!; pictured above) who will share insight into the entrepreneurial journey through their years of expertise. The time spent in our program will help our startups bring their innovative business ideas to life!
